The Centre through the Management Education and Training Department currently runs over a hundred and forty scheduled training programmes annually in various areas of management including:
- General Management
- Strategic Management
- Human Resource Management
- Finance and Accounting
- Management Trainers’ Development; and
- Annual Conferences
In addition, CMD organizes in-plant training programmes in various areas of management for both public and private sector organisations. There are three divisions in the Department responsible for these training programmes viz:-
Management Information Division, with responsibilities for:
- Provision of computer systems support services to other departments;
- Designing, coordinating computer training programmes;
- Facilitating in all CMD scheduled and in-plant training programmes which have computer input;
- Organising in-house computer training programmes for all categories of CMD staff;
- Providing software design and development services;
- Soliciting for computer-related training programmes for private and public sector organisations;
- Collaborating with selected organisations to organize and coordinate computer training programmes;
- rovision of computer system rental services to interested training outfits; and
- Provision of internet services.
Management Training and Education Division
The functions of the Management Training and Education Division are as follows:
- Designing and organizing scheduled and in-plant training programmes covering diverse areas of management;
- Soliciting for in-plant training programmes and training consultancy assignments;
- Designing and executing training consultancy assignments;
- Designing and coordination of staff development training programmes;
- Organising annual conferences and seminars for trainers other managers; chief executives and Board Members to discuss national issues and proffer solutions;
- Assisting in the process of registration/accreditation of management trainers and training outfits;
- Facilitating in CMD scheduled and in-plant training programmes as faculty members; and
- Functioning as members of cross-departmental and centre-wide ad-hoc committees.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMME DIVISION (APD)
Committed to producing highly professional and competent managers for the economy, the Council in 1993 directed the Centre to design and provide professional (Executive) Post-Graduate programmes in management.
Consequently, in January 1999, the Centre in collaboration with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka jointly commenced the following programmes:
1. Executive MBA and PGD Programmes in:
a. Management
b. Marketing
c. Accountancy; and
d. Banking and Finance
2. Executive M.sc and PGD Programmes in Public Relations
The Academic Programme Division (APD) was saddled with the responsibility of coordinating these postgraduate programmes in collaboration with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Specifically, the main functions of the Division include:-
- Student enrolment
- Organising students’ lecture
- Matriculation of students
- Handling Education Board Matters
- Organising/coordinating students convocation
- Collation of students’ examination results
- Facilitation of CMD scheduled and in-plant training programmes faculty members
- Coordination of students’ research projects
Also, in 2018, the Centre in collaboration with the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State jointly commenced Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA), programmes till date.
